需要干净、无前科的 IP(见 原生 IP、IP 信誉)。

“Running your own mail server” sounds cool, but deliverability is the pitfall that discourages countless people. Understand what you’re getting into before you decide.
Three Major Challenges
- IP reputation: Many VPS IP addresses are on email blacklists — your outgoing mail goes straight to spam or gets rejected outright. You need a clean IP with no history of abuse (see native IP and IP reputation).
- Port 25 blocked: Many providers block the SMTP port 25 by default (to prevent spam). You must confirm you can get it unblocked before setting up a mail server.
- Complex configuration: rDNS/PTR, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC all need to be set up correctly — otherwise your mail still gets rejected (see DNS records).
How to Choose / Recommendations
- Pick a provider that explicitly supports mail servers, can open port 25, and has clean IPs; 1–2 GB of RAM is sufficient.
- Beginners should think twice: Deliverability is hard to guarantee. If you just need to send and receive email, a third-party email service (custom domain mailbox) is far less hassle.
- Self-hosting suits tinkerers and those with strong privacy requirements.
